Clean Rivers Experience, Slovakia

Creative approach to protection of environment and health in municipalities across Slovakia

The shores of rivers and water bodies in Slovakia will be in focus on 27th September 2020.

As a part of world-wide initiative River Cleanup, this activity is introduced in Slovakia by the organizers of pilot project “Zaži čistý Dunaj - Clean Danube Experience”. Their innovative approach connects disciplines to move Slovakia towards ecologic responsibility and inspire them to sustainable way of living.

Beside Danube, the biggest river flowing through Slovakia, they will care for many other rivers in the republic. The activity under a common title “Zaži čisté rieky - Clean Rivers Experience” will join volunteers from different regions.

Activity is organized by NGO Human Health Institute n.o. - Inštitút pre ľudské zdravie (HHI), via platform Žiť vedomo (Live Consciously), in collaboration with civic associations and local initiatives. Project leaders are PhDr. Eriky Jung, MBA, activist dedicated to support and protection of health and environment; Mgr. Lucia Olívia Ďurčová, environment specialist and project manager; Mgr. art. Dominika Belanská, architect and facilitator; and Michaela Davidovičová, certified instructor of Wim Hof Method; and coordinators in each location. Together they will support the global ecological movement on the local level.

“On this day, we take direct action to clean our living environment, as well as ourselves. Experience clean rivers - come and treat yourself with and experience of getting to know each other and cleaning the environment which is also a precious part of you,” the organizers invite to participate and realize the importance of nature protection. “We meet on Sunday, 27th September nearby rivers and lakes in different cities in Slovakia: Bratislava, Komárno, Marcelová, Trnava, Banská Bystrica, Budmerice, Košice, Senica, Sereď... etc. We ask everyone to bring gloves and a litter bag for collecting the trash and also their own bottle of water.”

Participants will have a chance intensively the surrounding environment and also get to know each other. By collecting the found trash they will support the irreplaceable natural treasure, our water sources. This way they also contribute to preserving the precious natural biotopes and the most endangered species of animals and plants in Slovakia.

We connect in order to clean our rivers thanks to long term collaboration with different organizations supporting the living environment, health and culture.
