River Cleanup Vienna - Clean Danube Experience
World Oceans Day 2024 Vienna & River Cleanup Vienna - Clean Danube Experience 24.06..2024
RIVER CLEAN UP VIENNA - CLEAN DANUBE EXPERIENCE is a creative approach of the students of class 4.C of the BRG1 - Lise Meitner Realgymnasium ,,Schottenbastei,, and the rowing community - Wiener Ruderklub Donau in cooperation with the Human Health Institute n.o (NGO) and River Cleanup.
On 2č. Juni 2024, BRG1 students, professors, rowers, coaches and their families will pull out all the stops for Earth Day 2024 and beautify the banks and waters of Vienna; Lower Old Danube and Danube Canal.
It is an activity that not only benefits nature, but also the general public!
With the aim of combining education, sport, art, nature, health and sustainability in one place. Nowadays, it is more important than ever to take care of the environment, especially when it is visited and used by millions of guests every year. The more we take care of our Danube, the longer we can use and love this oasis of well-being.
The class 4.C of BRG1 is organising this worldwide initiative together with the WRKD rowing club and bringing it to Vienna.
They combine different disciplines and approaches in an innovative way to encourage Austria to take more ecological responsibility and inspire people, young people and their families to adopt a sustainable lifestyle.
The main actors of the activity are the head of the 4th C. class at BRG1, Professor Mag. Andreas Scheucher and the vice-president of WRK Donau, Dr Josef Bertagnoli, and the founder of the Human Health Institute n.o., which focuses on supporting and protecting health and the environment in several countries, Dr Erika Jung, MBA.
The Vice President of the WRK Donau, Dr Josef Bertagnoli, says: We rowers are out on the water every day and support the River Clean-Up Days as a club with all our might. Rowing itself is a clean-water sport and as such we also have a responsibility to keep the water and its surroundings clean and to help clean it.
Professor Mag. Andreas Scheucher says: It is extremely important to work together with young people on the topic of environmental protection, after all, we are the ones responsible for the current situation and the pupils are the ones who own the future. The project is also a great way to strengthen the social fabric of the class.
Dr Erika Jung says: We are coming together to contribute to a sustainable, healthy future for our children. At the same time, we also want to be a role model for children and all those who want to participate in a greener future. It is an activity to strengthen environmental awareness and responsibility among children and young people.
On 24.06.2024, the students and professors will focus on the Danube Canal. With this initiative, they will jointly support the global ecological movement River Cleanup on a local level.
Everyone is cordially invited to take part in the River Clean Up Day Vienna!
IIf you would like to join us and support us, just come along and bring your good humour. We are happy about every hand that wants to do something good for the preservation of our waters. Together we can take a step towards a sustainable future for our children and their children via the Old Danube to the Danube Canal.
