HOW TO ACHIEVE THAT PEOPLE UNDERWENT DENTAL HYGIENE LOOKING FORWARD TO IT?

Zúbok

The only motivation is awareness.

In a quiet environment we explain to the patient that it is a task which they do not need to worry about. We inform them about the state of their teeth and gums in the mouth and we get them to cooperate. At work, I do an examination of the gum bleeding, representation of the dental plaque and educate the patient on its harmfulness. A plaque can cause not only tooth decays, but also gingivitis. I do explain that untreated inflammation leads to periodontitis where the toxins attack the bone and it results in its loss. Untreated condition is irreversible and leads to tooth loss.

My goal is to change people's attitudes about the dental hygiene, to get rid of their bad habits by its implementation, to look forward to it, and to remove any trauma. I am buildingcollaboration with my patients, as it is the only way I can makethem follow my tips and advices. They must be convinced that that my instructions are right. At work I use visual documentations and teach people the proper cleaning techniques in their mouth. I measure the size of interdental brushes, because everyone has a different space between the teeth.

I motivate children on a playful, spontaneous way. First, I make the child familiar with our ambulance and tell him I'm going to count all his teeth. The instructive mentoring I always do in the presence of their parents, because they are responsible for their children's oral health. I teach them the correct techniques in the mouth using a mirror. I educate parents about the importance of cleaning the back teeth and the interdental spaces, as well as about child’s nutrition. To motivate children I use stories for kids with pictures about cheerful and sad teeth.

Children are competitive and playful. Therefore, I encourage them to teach their siblings, friends and parents wash their teeth properly. Every child, who completes a dental hygiene in our clinic, receives a small reward. People should receive dental care at least 2x a year to prevent dental treatment and for better subjective feeling. They must know that they do it for themselves and not for the dentist or the preventist.

After all, our first contact with the public is our smile. And that says it all.
